Practically Perfect

Date day with my big girl was a kind of YES! day.

“Mom, I need sandals to match my pretty dress.”

“Yes you do!”

“Mom, can we play at that playground we always drive by when we go to the Aquarium?”

“Yes!”

“Mom, this looks like a place there are treasure so let’s try to find some okay?”

“Okay!”

“Do a silly dance with me on the beach!”

“You bet!”

“Let me take a picture of you!”

“Alrighty.”

Then we settle in to 3 hours of the fabulous Mary Poppins broadway show at the Queen Elizabeth theatre. We laugh, clap, sing along and love.

After a fabulous show that we both adored, I ask and Kaya answers.

“Do you think we should do something crazy and have some special cupcakes before dinner?”

Eyes peering up, smile as wide as it can go, “YES!”

We both jump up and down with glee.

So we drive to the Cupcake store, indulge, then soak our dresses in the water park, before heading home eight hours after we started.

Practically perfect day in every way.

Bert, in Mary Poppins, is not just awesome, he is wise so I leave you with this:

Like you say, Guv’nor.
You’ve got to grind, grind, grind
At that grindstone

But wait…

Though child’ood slips like sand through a sieve
And all too soon they’ve up grown
And then they’ve flown
And it’s too late for you to give
Just that spoonful of sugar
To ‘elp the medicine go down
